Good luck! I have a feeling though that it's going to be a long journey, though.

Sometimes it's helpful to get the issue raised in parliament. I think the NDP critic on aboriginal justice, Jean Crowder, might be able to get the issue on the agenda. The NDP shadow cabinet worked wonders on the gay veteran's issue when I brought it up.

At the very least, it's worth a try. Her e-mail is crowder.J@parl.gc.ca.

On behalf of the Two-Spirited People of Manitoba Inc. group, I've approached the Indian Residential School Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Canada) to explore how they can involve Two Spirit people in their undertakings (via letter Oct. 27, 2009). I await their response.

Thank you. I've been thinking about publishing this in some form - I've been looking into it. Maybe once I have a bit more time in October, I'll look into it.

Hi Hamish,

Thank you for sharing this. I'm staggered by your efforts and delighted to have found your blog.

It's so interesting how much impact the "majority gaze" has on the social construction of power and difference. Far earlier than the racialization of Native peoples came their "othering" with respect to "civilization" (writ large and applied as code for "Christian," I suspect).

I look forward to future entries.

Cheers,
Lee

PS Are you aware of <a href="http://www.lambdafoundation.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17%3Alynch-grant-in-queer-history&catid=1%3Alatest-news&lang=en" rel="nofollow">this grant</a>? I don't know anything about the culture of such things in Canada, but I think your contribution to Canadian queer history deserves recognition.

Hi Hamish,

I doubt it will be disappointing. Even dead ends are valuable in research, and I'm grateful for your efforts (always nice to have someone waving one away from cliffsides and crevasses!).

Hello!

I'm afraid it might not be much of a post, unfortunately, if I can't get much more information -- so I hope it's not too disappointing. But thank you for your support!
